WC-ARES Task Book

Williamson County Texas ARES is dedicated to training its members the skills needed to assist in Emergency Communications during the time of disasters. To participate in WC-ARES activations, there are several levels of training that will determine your level of participation during any activation.

Task book can be downloaded from our Documents & Forms.

Required FEMA Training

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) now requires all volunteers, including amateur radio operators, to have completed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). You can navigate to the course material. You will need to print and provide your certifications and will be expected to keep them with you.

WC-ARES members will be expected to understand and operate under National Incident Management System (NIMS) during activation.

Without this training, you may be excluded from participating or gaining access to emergency sites during activation.

Required CJIS Training

All members are required to complete the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Information Security Awareness Training annually. Upon completion, badged members should fill out the Wilco CJJIS Form and email it to our Training Officer, Doug Dukes, at dougdukes@gmail.com. New members will submit the form as part of their badge application.
